FAQ

What are loafers?

Loafers are shoes that are simply slipped on the foot, for that reason they are sometimes known as slip-ons. Traditionally, loafers were shoes made for men but have grown over the decades to become a favourite style for women too. There are different types of loafers to choose from, a favourite being the penny loafer which has a leather saddle or strap across the vamp with a small cut-out (traditionally used to hold pennies), or tassel loafers, and snaffle loafers which usually feature metallic straps across the top of the shoe.

How to wear loafers

Convenient and comfortable, loafers are the perfect choice for ladies who want to bridge the gap between smart and casual, they’re a versatile shoe that you can wear with virtually every outfit and occasion. When wearing your loafers to work, team with cropped trousers to let your loafers be admired in all their glory and as for more casual occasions opt for colours like blue because they’ll team perfectly with your jeans, chinos, or dresses too.

How to break in leather loafers

The trick to breaking in leather loafers is to wear them in short intervals as this will prevent your feet from becoming sore. If your loafers are too tight, we recommend wearing a thick pair of socks to stretch the uppers, wear them around the house so you can get used to how they feel. For stiff leather uppers, try softening at places like the heel and vamp by applying a little beeswax to the lining.
